Rick Scott begins 3-day swing to pitch tax-cut proposal Wednesday

After pitching a $1 billion tax cut proposal to state lawmakers, Gov. Rick Scott is hitting the road to sell his proposal to Floridians.

Scott is set to start off on his “Million Miles for a Million Jobs” bus tour Wednesday. The start of the trip comes just a day after Scott urged state lawmakers to cut $1 billion in taxes and create a $250 million Florida Enterprise to help spur job growth.

“With record state revenues, we have the opportunity to diversify our economy and help our small businesses grow by cutting $1 billion,” said Scott during his annual State of the State speech Tuesday. “I’ve never heard of a businessperson who wanted to grow a smaller business. If we put more money in their pockets, they will spend it on research, new equipment, and hiring to create more jobs.”

Scott said his proposal would cut costs for “the manufacturers, the innovators, and the entrepreneurs … who take the risks that make our economy grow and create good-paying jobs.”

This week, Let’s Get to Work, his political committee, launched a 30-second spot calling on lawmakers to support his tax cut and incentive package. The advertisement is expected to air in markets across the state.

Scott is scheduled to hit three cities — Orlando, Tampa and Sunrise — on Wednesday. He’s expected to visit six more by week’s end.
