In a new ad airing in New Hampshire, Jeb Bush talked about his daughter’s battle with drug addiction.

As first reported by WMUR in New Hampshire,  the advertisement is the first paid spot in which the former Florida governor talks about his daughter. The station reported the advertisement also touches on a top issue facing New Hampshire and the nation.

The 60-second spot — called “Recovery” — was filmed during a town hall meeting in Dover on Jan. 5, according to WMUR. In the ad, Bush mentions he had just attended a forum on drug addiction and told the story of his daughter, Noelle.

“I have personal experience in this as a dad. My daughter, Noelle, was addicted to drugs,” he said in the advertisement. “Today I called her to tell her I was going to talk about her in this public setting, it’s not easy to do. She said ‘Go, do it. I want to help.’”

Bush continued: “She was put in jail, then she went to drug court. It was tough. It was really hard. I can look in people’s eyes and I know they have been through the same thing Columba and I have. There is a solution to this. But it requires leadership.”

WMUR said the advertisement is part of a $4.6 million buy for final weeks of the New Hampshire primary campaign.
