David Jolly releases digital ad promoting his STOP Act (and takes a shot at Ron DeSantis)

Shortly after David Jolly formally announced his legislation that would prohibit federal officers from raising money in office, he issued out a statement calling on members of the public to support the effort, called the STOP Act.

He’s also released this new digital ad, which begins with news footage of cable news anchors talking about terrorism, the national debt, the immigration problem, the problems at the VA, all with ominous music playing in the background, before Jolly appears.

“We can’t have a part-time Congress in a full-time world,” Jolly says in the video. “So, you and I, we’re going to do something about it by passing the STOP Act, and here’s what that means: No member of Congress will be allowed to ask you for money, so they can focus on the job you sent them to do. Fix what’s wrong, make things work. Owned by no one. Committed to everyone. Now, you and I know Washington won’t like this, I’m good with that.”

“Want to finally protect the border?” Jolly asks, before a citizen appears and says, “Pass the STOP Act.” He says the same thing about stopping ISIS and fixing the VA.

It then ends with footage of Congressman Ron DeSantis asking for campaign contributions. Desantis is one of Jolly’s three major opponents in the GOP race for U.S. Senate, along with defense contractor Todd Wilcox and Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera.
