Nora Patterson snagged the support of more than a dozen local officials, including former Senate President John McKay, in her bid for state Senate.
Patterson, a Sarasota Republican, announced the endorsements Wednesday.
“I’ve worked with many of these respected local officials and look forward to again working with them in Tallahassee,” she said in a statement. “Tallahassee doesn’t work for the citizens anymore — it’s getting more like Washington, D.C. The House and Senate aren’t working together, and citizens are the losers.”
In a statement, Sarasota County Commissioner Shannon Staub said Patterson will continue the work she’s done in Sarasota in Tallahassee.
“Through Nora’s leadership we cut the Sarasota County property tax rate by 25 percent while increasing our rainy day fund at the same time,” Staub said in a statement. “While on the Commission Nora was a fiscal watchdog for taxpayers and I know she will do the same for us in Tallahassee.”
Patterson is running in Senate District 28 to replace Sen. Nancy Detert.
