Marco Rubio has snagged the endorsement of Sen. Tim Scott.
Scott, a South Carolina Republican, endorsed Rubio on Tuesday morning, hours after the Florida Republican outperformed expectations in Iowa. Rubio finished in third place with 23 percent, better than recent polls had projected.
“I believe the best days of our country are ahead of her — that 2016 may be the most important election,” Scott says in a video released by the Rubio campaign Tuesday morning. “I am putting my confidence and my trust in Marco Rubio, because I believe that he takes us to that better future. Marco Rubio understands that here in American, it’s not about where you start, it’s about where you are going.”

Scott was sworn in to the U.S. Senate in January 2013. Prior the Senate, Scott was in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2013, where he was on the House rules committee. He also was on the Charleston County Council and in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
In his endorsement, Scott said Americans have “one shot in 2016 to beat Hillary Clinton and that shot is Marco Rubio.”
“With him as our candidate, we win,” he said. “Join me. Vote for Marco Rubio. Let’s see the next American century unfold before our eyes. Because with Marco Rubio, America’s future is very bright.”
The South Carolina Republican primary is Feb. 20.
