The Clewiston-based U.S. Sugar Corp. has unveiled a new website, highlighting the work it does to protect the environment in the South Florida lands it plies to satisfy the nation’s sweet tooth.

The new site, found at www.USSugar.com, outlines the company’s sugarcane and citrus operations and tells the story of its ongoing efforts to combine innovation and technology with sustainable farming in growing and processing sugarcane, citrus, and sweet corn.

The site features aspects titled “Stewardship,” “Green Energy,” and “Phosphorous Reduction” and focuses on recent environmental progress in terms of water quality near the Everglades.

“We are very proud of who we are and what we do and wanted to convey that through our new website,’’ said Judy Sanchez, senior director of corporate communications and public affairs for U.S. Sugar. “We think it will help people both near and far get to know what we are doing to feed families while preserving our land and environment.”

U.S. Sugar highlights its commitment to reducing waste and employing nature-friendly agricultural techniques, as well as rising internal standards for saving energy. In 2006, for example, the company received the Energy Institute’s prestigious Environment Award for setting a new standard in emission control performance.

The site reads well on both desktop and mobile modes, and is full of eye-catching photography of Florida’s delicate, productive natural resources.

“Our new site design is the latest sweet thing from U.S. Sugar,’’ Sanchez said. “We encourage everyone to bookmark it and visit often to keep abreast of company news and announcements.”
