Charles Cofer, running to unseat fellow Republican Matt Shirk as 4th Circuit Public Defender, raised nearly $21,000 in January.
Cofer’s cash on hand is just under $27,000 He spent $5,758 in January, and has spent $8,765 against $28,285 raised and a $7,000 personal loan.
Most of his money has come from the Jacksonville legal community, with the maximum contribution from the Haskell Co. being an exception.
Legal eagles who swooped in with cash for Cofer include the law firm of local legend William Sheppard.
Expenditures seem a bit atypical with almost $4,500 to Daigle Services, the John Daigle firm, for “stationery/design services/consulting,” and $1,084 to Bailey Publishing, “Downtown” Jim Bailey‘s firm, for “stationery/envelopes/postage.”
One presumes it’s very nice stationery.
Bailey Publishing also puts out the Jacksonville Daily Record, a daily must-read for local insiders.
Shirk, who filed to run for re-election in January, has yet to file his first month’s numbers.
