(UPDATE)
Marco Rubio will continue his presidential campaign into South Carolina after New Hampshire –just not all three events he had scheduled.
The Rubio campaign has issued a statement saying that Rubio will make two of the three events previously scheduled for the Palmetto State, but will return to Washington in the afternoon.
That’s because he wants to be the Senate when it takes up legislation to increase sanctions against North Korea after the weekend missile launch.
The North Korea Sanctions Enforce Act, a bill from Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., passed the House last month and is scheduled for a vote in the full Senate this week after being approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
CNN is reporting that the other Republican Senator in the race, Ted Cruz from Texas, will also travel to D.C.
No word on the third senate candidate in the race, Bernie Sanders of Vermont, will be making the trip to Washington. He is scheduled to meet with the Rev. Al Sharpton in New York City in the morning.
This original report said that Rubio would not make any of those appearances in South Carolina. His campaign now says he will appear at two of them.
