Report: Nikki Haley endorsing Marco Rubio

Marco Rubio

The State newspaper reports that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is poised to endorse Marco Rubio for president.

This is a big win for Rubio: Other campaigns, including the Jeb Bush campaign, had courted Haley’s nod.

Bush, on NBC News, called a Haley nod “the most meaningful endorsement if there is, if she is going to give an endorsement it would be the most powerful meaningful one in the state.”

Yet Rubio, a 44-year-old Tea Party friendly conservative like Haley, got the nod.

Rubio has been polling near Ted Cruz in most recent polls, a distant second behind Donald Trump.

It will be a measure of Haley’s political capital if Rubio surges in the South Carolina primary based on this nod.
