For the second straight evening, SpaceX’s attempts to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Base was aborted Thursday, this time reportedly due to a technical problem.
The launch scrub was announced literally in the last minute of the countdown Thursday. There were unconfirmed reports that the SpaceX launch control center detected a problem with liquid oxygen loading but did not elaborate.
The rocket is intended to carry the SES-9 satellite into orbit, to provide communication services for south Asia.
On Wednesday a launch attempt was halted earlier in the countdown because of persistent high winds on Cape Canaveral.
There was no immediate word on when the next launch attempt might occur. SpaceX typically stands down for at least one day for refueling when it is forced to postpone launches on two consecutive days.
