Floridians now can schedule an appointment online to apply for a concealed weapon license, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam announced Tuesday.

“The new scheduling feature is only available to those seeking their initial concealed weapon license,” said a news release from his office. “Consumers can still apply for a concealed weapon license via mail, but a scheduled appointment is required before applying in-office.”

The online service can be used for appointments at one of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ eight regional offices. They are in Fort Walton, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Orlando, North Port, Tampa, West Palm Beach and Doral.

Visit FreshFromFlorida.com/cw, and click on the nearest regional office. The site will redirect to a page providing details including office location, hours of operation, and the scheduling calendar.

“After selecting a date, available time slots are displayed, followed by a page to input contact information,” the release says. “Once the appointment is confirmed, a reminder will be sent 48 hours prior to the appointment via phone call, text or email based on preference.”
