Senate Minority Leader Arthenia Joyner was the first elected official to take the podium at the 2015 Associated Press Legislative Planning Session, and she wasted little time making hay out of Gov. Rick Scott‘s recent issues with appearing to overreach its boundaries.
“Hubris appears to be the organizing principle of our executive branch,” said Joyner, the long-serving Tampa Democrat.
“She’s not partisan, is she?” was Scott’s retort, later on in the morning.
Joyner went on to cast the following aspersion in Scott’s direction, referring to the administration’s penchant for hiring former gubernatorial aides from Louisiana: “He (Scott) seems be getting Bobby Jindal’s hand-me downs, and how well does that bode for Florida?”
Joyner will serve on the Appropriations, Health Policy, Higher Education, Judiciary and Rules committees during the 2015 & 2016 legislative sessions. Miami Gardens state Sen. Oscar Branynon was designated her 2017-2018 successor last week.
