After an easy win in November, state Representative Ross Spano took the first steps for a 2016 re-election run in House District 59, according to the Florida Division of Elections.
Spano, a 48-year-old attorney, took 58 percent of the vote Nov. 4 to win a second term for the seat covering parts of Hillsborough County.

In his first term, the Tampa Tribune reports that Spano received an A rating from both the Associated Industries of Florida and the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
Spano championed a foreclosure bill, which pitted him against the business community; as an attorney, he represented clients facing foreclosure. This year, he also supported a measure to clarify what actions community association managers can take without the need for an attorney, such as completing lien and delinquency paperwork.
The bill again put Spano against members of The Florida Bar in the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section.
“It’s important that these folks have clarity,” Spano said in a March interview. “We’re trying to provide a safe harbor in which they can operate.”
