Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will be the keynote speaker later this month in Fort Lauderdale during a conference organized by the Trayvon Martin Foundation.
The foundation said in a statement that Clinton will address the third annual Circle of Mothers conference, a three-day event that helps mothers who have “lost children or family members to senseless gun violence.”
The event is scheduled for May 20-22 at the Embassy Suites, 1100 S.E. 17th Street.
Circle of Mothers was founded by Sybrina Fulton, whose 17-year-old son, Trayvon Martin, was fatally shot by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in 2012.
Fulton is one of several mothers who lost their children to gun violence or in police custody, and then campaigned for Clinton during the Democratic presidential primary.
Those attending the Clinton speech are asked to donate $1,500, with the money raised going to the foundation.
