Temple Terrace-based Republican Rep. Shawn Harrison raised $21,270 in April, and has over $100,000 cash-in-hand in the House District 63 race.
Harrison is trying to defy the odds in this swing district in a presidential election year. The former two-term Tampa City Council member was first elected to the seat in 2010 but lost in the 2012 presidential election year to Democrat Mark Danish.
In 2014, with fewer Democrats going to the polls, Harrison was able to vanquish Danish and retake the seat. Now in 2016, he will face the winner in the Lisa Montelione-Mike Reedy Democratic primary.
Montelione raised $19,490 in April, and has a total of more than $65,000, with $58,000-plus cash-on-hand.
Reedy raised just $1,110 in April, another disappointing fundraising month for him, following a March where he brought in just $2,110. He currently has just over $15,400 cash-on-hand.
