The drumbeat of Democratic endorsements for Ben Diamond‘s state House campaign continued Tuesday with two St. Petersburg City Council members announcing their support of the first-time candidate.

City Council Chair Amy Foster and Council member Lisa Wheeler-Brown announced their endorsement of Diamond in his campaign for House District 68.

“I’m proud to endorse Ben Diamond because he’s been working hard on the issues that impact St. Petersburg,” said Foster. “From education and safety to utilities and insurance, we can count on Ben to fight for us in Tallahassee.”

Wheeler-Brown echoed Foster’s sentiments.

“I’ve been working with Ben for the past several months, and have known him even longer as a strong leader in our community,” Wheeler-Brown said. “Ben has the knowledge and experience to fight for Pinellas families on day one.”

Diamond declared his candidacy for the District 68 seat last month after Dwight Dudley announced he was not seeking re-election.

Foster and Wheeler-Brown join St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman and Council members Jim Kennedy, Karl Nurse, and Darden Rice. Diamond has also received the endorsement of Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Allison Tant, Former Senator and Governor Bob Graham, Former CFO Alex Sink, and Pinellas County Commissioners Charlie Justice, Janet Long, and Ken Welch.

Diamond serves on the board of directors of the Pinellas County Urban League and the Public Suncoast Transit Authority. He’s also the co-chair of the Transportation Task  Force of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.
