Marco Rubio continues to be unpopular in his home state, found a new poll by Public Policy Polling.
The survey, released Friday afternoon, found 30 percent of Floridians polled said they approved of Rubio’s job performance. Another 49 percent said they disapproved of the job Rubio was doing, while 20 percent stated they weren’t sure.
The survey of 508 registered voters was conducted June 15 and 16. The poll came about 10 days after the company’s last Florida poll was released, but officials said they put another poll in the field to learn where Sunshine State voters stand on gun control measures in the wake of the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.
The poll also looked at how Rubio, who this week said he was reconsidering his decision not to run for the Senate, would fare if he were to run again.
The poll found just one point would separate Rubio from Democrat Patrick Murphy in a hypothetical general election match-up. In that instance, Murphy leads Rubio 42 percent to 41 percent; with 17 percent of respondents saying they were unsure.
In a hypothetical match-up between Rubio and Democrat Alan Grayson, Rubio would be on top, but by the slimmest of margins. The survey found Rubio would lead Grayson 42 percent to 40 percent, with 17 percent saying they weren’t sure.
The margin of error was 4.4 percent.
Rubio is expected to take the weekend to consider whether he will run for re-election in 2016. The qualifying deadline is noon on June 24.
