The Senate District 19 seat encompasses both Hillsborough and Pinellas County.
Ed Narain and Betty Reed reside in Tampa, while Darryl Rouson is running for the seat from St. Petersburg, so it’s probably not a surprise that a number of St. Pete Democrats have announced their support for Rouson in the race.
Pinellas County Commissioners Ken Welch, Janet Long, and Charlie Justice are backing, as is St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman, and the entire St. Pete City Council.
“Rep. Darryl Rouson has been a skilled legislator and a passionate advocate for our community,” said Kriseman.
“I support you for your campaign because you never lose sight of constituent issues and work across the aisles to bring much needed resources to our area,” said St. Pete Council Chair Amy Foster.
Pinellas County School Board Member Rene Flowers, Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson, and Gulfport Council members Yolanda Roman and Michael Fridovich are also backing Rouson.
I’m honored to be endorsed by these great public servants here in Pinellas County,” Rouson said in a statement. “I’m working to be the Senator of District 19 so that I can represent all residents in Pinellas and Hillsborough and bring common sense solutions to our community.”
Rouson is term-limited out of his House District 70 seat this fall.
