Five Democrats and no Republicans have qualified to run for the seat in Orlando-based state Senate District 11 but two write-in candidates means there will be both a primary and general election.

All five major Democrats who’ve been campaigning for the seat — state Rep. Randolph Bracy of Oakland, businessman Chuck O’Neal of Apopka, former state Rep. and former county commissioner Bob Sindler of Orlando and former state Sen. Gary Siplin of Orlando — all qualified.

They will meet in the Aug. 30 Democratic primary.

The addition of two write-in candidates, Joseph Harris and Miranda Ratcliffe, both of Orlando, means there also will be a general election. Both Harris and Ratcliffe filed and were qualified on Thursday.
