DOE releases school grades

Florida is releasing the second round of school grades linked to the high-stakes test that is based primarily on Common Core standards.

The Florida Department of Education on Friday issued the grades for 3,211 schools across the state.

The preliminary grades given out show that 741 schools received A grades and 749 schools received a B. A total of 103 schools earned an F grade while 372 schools were given a D. The remaining 1,246 schools got a C grade.

The overall number of A grades has declined, but the number of F grades went down as well.

This is the second set of grades that are based on the Florida Standards Assessment, but this is the first time that education officials have incorporated student learning gains into the calculation.
