Another day, another endorsement for Democrat Ben Diamond.
The Florida Professional Firefighters announced Wednesday their endorsement of Diamond in the competitive race for House District 68.
“The Florida Professional Firefighters are proud to endorse Ben Diamond,” said Winthrop “Will” Newton, 2nd District vice president. “Ben cares about his community and will do an excellent job representing his district in Tallahassee. We can also trust Ben to do what’s right for the firefighters and emergency medical services personnel of Florida.”
Since announcing his candidacy shortly after Rep. Dwight Dudley announced he would not be seeing re-election, Diamond has received the endorsements of former U.S. Sen. and Gov. Bob Graham, Congresswoman Kathy Castor, former CFO Alex Sink, St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, St. Petersburg City Council Chair Amy Foster, St. Petersburg Council members Jim Kennedy, Karl Nurse, Darden Rice, and Lisa Wheeler-Brown, and Pinellas County Commissioners Charlie Justice, Janet Long, and Ken Welch.
“I’m so honored to have the endorsement of the Florida Professional Firefighters,” said Diamond. “I really appreciate their hard work in protecting our friends and neighbors. When I get to Tallahassee, I’ll fight to make sure we take care of those professionals who sacrifice so much to keep our community safe.”
Diamond serves on the board of directors of the Pinellas County Urban League and the Public Suncoast Transit Authority. He’s also the co-chair of the Transportation Task Force of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.
