Gov. Rick Scott on Friday named Pensacola attorney Coleman Lee Robinson to the First Judicial Circuit Court.
Robinson, 44, served as an Assistant State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit since 1994. He was a Special Assistant United States attorney from 2007-2009. Robinson is also a member of the First Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee.
“Lee has demonstrated dedication to Florida families throughout his career,” Scott said in a statement “I am confident he will do a great job on the First Judicial Circuit Court bench.”
Robinson is a Florida State University graduate who earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina. His appointment fills a vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Ross Bilbrey to the First District Court of Appeal.
Scott chose Robinson from a list of eleven nominees supplied by the Judicial Nominating Commission, which asks members of the legal community and the public to provide information on each applicant.
According to the Florida Bar, candidates are rated on a series of personal attributes including integrity, moral conduct, and ethics, competency and experience, professional reputation and knowledge of the law. They are also selected on judicial capabilities such as patience, decisiveness, courtesy, civility, temperament, and respect.
