Buddy Dyer endorses Patrick Murphy in Florida’s U.S. Senate race

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has endorsed U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy for Florida’s U.S. Senate race, eschewing Orlando’s hometown congressman, U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson.

The Murphy campaign announced Monday that Dyer’s endorsement joins those of 21 other Florida mayors, including Bob Buckhorn of Tampa, Rick Kriseman of St. Petersburg, Jack Seiler of Fort Lauderdale, Andrew Gillum of Tallahassee and Lauren Poe of Gainesville.

“Patrick Murphy is the leader that my city and our state need in the U.S. Senate and I am proud to endorse him,” Dyer stated in a news release issued by the Murphy campaign. “Patrick will stand up for commonsense gun violence prevention measures, work to strengthen our middle class, and protect Social Security and Medicare for our seniors. More than ever, we need leadership from our next U.S. Senator and I know that Patrick is the man for the job.”

Murphy is in an Aug. 30 Democratic primary battle with Grayson and Miami lawyer Pam Keith. The winner likely will take on incumbent Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Miami, though he first must vanquish Bradenton home builder Carlos Beruff in the Republican primary.

“I am proud to receive the endorsement of Mayor Buddy Dyer, a true public servant and a great leader for the City Beautiful,” Murphy stated in the release. “After the tragic Pulse shooting, Mayor Dyer set an example for all of us in leading his city through some of its most difficult days. Orlando is fortunate to have Mayor Dyer at the helm and I am fortunate to have him standing with me in this campaign. I look forward to all that we can accomplish together for Florida families and I’m grateful for his service.”

Alan Grayson is the candidate who has taken a stand on expanding Social Security and adding ears/eyes/teeth to Medicare. Recently GOP-to Dem Murphy was ok with privatizing SS. Grayson’s is the campaign that’s running on small donors. Murphy runs on corporate and dad’s money.
