Boca Raton Democratic Rep. Irv Slosberg loaned himself another $260,000 in his campaign to unseat Palm Beach Democrat Jeff Clemens, who is set to become the Minority Leader in 2018.
Outside of the loan, Slosberg only reported a middling $2,700 in contributions for his Senate District 31 bid. To date, the veteran lawmaker has thrown $760,000 of his own money into his campaign while raising about $80,000.
Slosberg’s campaign has been blowing through money fast, however, with $241,462 in expenditures for the week. Half of that money went to Wyoming-based National Campaign Resources for advertising, while D.C.-based Winning Connections took in $50,000 for research, and Potomac Campaigns got $29,000 for printing and mailing fees.
The outflow left Slosberg with about $40,000 in the bank.
Clemens, who raised $16,700 for the week, had $57,000 on hand on Aug. 5, though his total fundraising has yet to eclipse the $250,000 mark, even including the $20,000 in loans he made to his campaign back in May.
Clemens’ cash came in across 22 contributions, including a dozen checks for the maximum of $1,000. On the donor roll were a two Pinellas Park companies that share an address — American Traditions Insurance and Modern USA Insurance — as well as a pair of $1,000 checks from Florida Workers’ Advocates and its political committee.
The campaign’s lone expenditure for the week was a $32,000 payment to Fletcher Rowley for advertising.
One of Clemens’ political committees, “Each Vote Counts,” fared a little better, with $64,000 raised for the week, including $10,000 from “Citizens for Common Sense in Government,” a committee headed up by Screven Watson. Another of Clemens’ committees, “Committee for a Prosperous Florida,” brought in $15,000 and has about $17,000 on hand.
SD 31 covers part of the Palm Beach County coast, including Lantana, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach and part of Lake Worth. The district has a nearly 2-to-1 advantage for Democrats in voter registrations and didn’t draw a GOP candidate this cycle.
Slosberg and Clemens are also facing Democrat Emmanuel Morel, who has less than $2,500 on hand, and write-in candidate Jason Swaby, who has not posted any contributions since filing for the seat on June 24.

Slosberg is a scumbag. Not only did he lie about his residency, he also is using the money he made from child labor to run his campaign. I hope he does not win. It will be very bad for Florida. https://floridapolitics.com/archives/212753-palm-beach-county-case-missing-voting-machine
