Tampa Bay Times pop culture reporter Sean Daly is leaving print media to return to television full time.
In an announcement, Daly – who also is features reporter for Tampa ABC affiliate WFTS-TV – gave few details about the move to television, but did say it would put him in “96 million homes.”
Daly has been with the Times since July 2005 as a pop music, tourism and retail critic. Prior to coming to Florida, he was pop music critic for The Washington Post.
Daly broke the news of his departure in a Facebook post:
FIRST THE BUMMER NEWS: After almost 10 years of hellzapoppin’ prose (start date: July 5, 2005), I am leaving the Tampa Bay Times. I’ll gush & sob about this place and these tremendous people a few posts down the road. NOW THE GOOD NEWS: I am returning to TV…in 96 million homes. Alas, gotta be coy with details for a few more days, but we’re about to find out what the rest of America thinks of my hair. Let’s be friends, South Dakota. Let’s be friends. Stay tuned. XO, SD
