Francis Rooney has scored the backing of a popular Cape Coral lawmaker.
Florida Rep. Dane Eagle announced this week he was endorsing Rooney in Florida’s 19th Congressional District.
“With the ongoing water crisis our region is facing, it is clear we need a strong representative in Washington who can get the job done by focusing on solutions and bringing all stakeholders to the table, not someone who creates divisiveness with finger-pointing and hyper-political rhetoric,” said Eagle. “We also need someone who knows how create jobs and is determined to secure our borders. This is why I am proud to lend my support to Francis Rooney for U.S. Congress, and I hope you will join me in voting for him on August 30.”
Rooney is vying to replace Rep. Curt Clawson in the U.S. House. He’ll face Chauncey Goss and Dan Bongino in Tuesday’s Republican primary.
He’s received the backing of several other prominent Republicans, including Gov. Rick Scott, former U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez, and 2016 GOP hopefuls Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina.
