Republican nominee Dean Asher has won the endorsement of the Greater Orlando Builders Association PAC in his bid for Florida’s Senate District 13, his campaign announced Friday.
“The majority of our members are small business owners just like Dean. It is important to our members that we have legislators who understand the role fall business plays in our economy,” Ray Bradick, chairman of the GOBA Political Action Committee, stated in a news release issued by Asher’s campaign. “Dean is the only small business owner in this race. It’s time that we have more who understand the challenges that come with signing the front of a paycheck.”
Asher faces Democratic nominee Linda Stewart in November for SD 13, which covers north-central and northeast Orange County. The seat is open because of the retirement of Senate President Andy Gardiner.
The GOBA PAC endorsement follows several other business groups that have endorsed Asher, including the National Federation of Independent Businesses, the Manufacturing Association of Central Florida, the Association of Builders and Contractors, and several Realtors groups.
“Being able to bring a business-minded voice to the Florida Senate is something that job creators deserve,” Asher stated in the release. “One of the biggest needs in the construction industry is skilled labor. I look forward to working with our school system and organizations like GOBA to bring real-works experience to our classrooms.”
