There hasn’t been much attention paid to the House District 68 race in Pinellas County after the intense Democratic primary battle between Ben Diamond and Eric Lynn.

Diamond won rather decisively in that race, and he is now the favorite against Republican JB Benshimen in November.

The Diamond campaign announced Tuesday the St. Petersburg attorney has received the backing of several progressive groups, such as the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) of Florida, West central Florida Labor Council (AFL-CIO), Planned Parenthood PAC, and the Democratic Veterans Caucus of Florida.

“I’m so honored to have the endorsement of all of these organizations,” Diamond said in a statement. “As the next representative from District 68, you can count on me to stand up for workers’ rights, women’s health, and veterans. We need a fighter from Pinellas County in Tallahassee standing up for what’s right for our constituents.”
Absentee ballots for the Nov. 8 General Election for Florida House District 68 race, and all the races on the ballot, are being mailed out Tuesday.
