House District 59 GOP incumbent Ross Spano is up with his first television ad of the 2016 election cycle.

The ad features a local businessman, a veteran, and members of his family to tout the “Ross Spano that I know.”

“I’m Ross Spano, and I will always fight for small businesses, veterans, and families,” he says before asking for support on Nov. 8.

Spano is running for his third term in District 59, which includes Riverview, Brandon, Valrico, Clair Mel, and Progress Village in eastern Hillsborough County. He’s running against Democrat Rena Frazier, a Brandon attorney running for office for her first time.

Democrats are hoping they can flip the swing seat. They came close in 2012 when it was an open seat, and Spano narrowly edged out Democrat Gail Gottlieb. He won the seat easily in 2014.
