Jeff Atwater is the latest statewide leader throwing his support behind a second term for Republican Party of Florida Chair Blaise Ingoglia.
“The grassroots of our party should elect our Chairman,” Florida’s chief financial officer said in a statement Wednesday. “I don’t tell the grassroots how to vote. But, I have a responsibility to tell the grassroots who I am voting for to Chair our Party.”
Atwater continued: “We need a fierce competitor who never blinks, works harder than anyone else, who is a relentless supporter of local parties, who will walk door-to-door, work the phones and never forget that the road to victory runs through the engine of our extraordinary grassroots leaders all across Florida … that’s why I’m voting for Blaise Ingoglia!”
Ingoglia celebrated Atwater’s backing, calling him a “great friend” to the RPOF and a “grassroots leader as evidenced by his frequent attendance at our quarterly meetings and many Lincoln and Reagan day dinners” across the state.
Last month, Ingoglia announced a list of 114 Republican activists, in addition to several current and new members of Congress who have publicly endorsed him, including U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio; U.S. Reps. Ted Yoho, Gus Bilirakis, Carlos Curbelo, Ron DeSantis, Tom Rooney, Dennis Ross and Daniel Webster, as well as Congressmen-elect Neil Dunn, Matt Gaetz, Brian Mast and John Rutherford.
