Rick Scott announces 12 state board appointments

On Friday, Gov. Rick Scott announced 12 appointments to a variety of state boards.

Task Force on Affordable Housing

Scott began by naming five people to the Task Force on Affordable Housing, formed in 2017 to develop recommendations for discussing the state’s affordable housing needs.

Jack Humburg, 60, of Saint Petersburg, is the executive vice president of Boley Centers, Inc.

Shannon Nazworth, 50, of Saint Augustine, is the chief executive officer of Ability Housing, Inc.

Hana Eskra, 52, of Miami, is the affordable housing developer for Gorman & Company.

Mark Kruse, 48, of Tallahassee, is the policy coordinator for the Governor’s Office of Policy and Budget.

Cheryl Lambert, 50, of Inverness, is the owner and broker of Only Way Realty Citrus.

Each of the five appointments is for a term ending Jan. 1, 2018.

Board of Acupuncture

Scott next appointed Dave Heine to the Florida Board of Acupuncture.

Heine, 58, of Altamonte Springs, is the owner of Timeshare Escrow and Title, LLC, and Land Title of Florida, LLC. He fills a vacant seat for a term Oct. 31, 2020.

Heine’s appointment is subject to Florida Senate confirmation.

Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

Scott then named Sherry Jordan to the Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, which is responsible for licensing, monitoring, disciplining and educating speech-language pathologists and audiologists to assure competency and safety of practice.

Jordan, 64, of Windermere, is a school psychologist for Orange County Public Schools. She fills a vacant seat for a term ending Oct. 31, 2019.

The appointment is subject to Florida Senate confirmation.

Board of Pharmacy

Scott also announced the appointment of Blanca Rivera to the Board of Pharmacy, which interacts regularly with pharmacy affiliated groups in Florida, as well as the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.

Rivera, 54, of Miami, is the executive director of pharmacy at the University of Miami Health System. Rivera fills a vacant seat for a term ending Oct. 31, 2019.

This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

Board of Pilot Commissioners

Scott announced the appointment of Robert Benson to the Board of Pilot Commissioners, responsible for the licensing and regulation of harbor pilots.

Benson, 63, of Plantation, is a former partner of Crowe Horwath, LLP. Benson fills a vacant seat for a term ending Oct. 31, 2020.

Benson’s appointment is subject to Florida Senate confirmation.

North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners

Scott announced the reappointment of Steven Wellins and the appointment of Andrew Klein to the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners.

Wellins, 51, of Fort Lauderdale, is the senior vice president of investments for Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC. Wellins is reappointed for a term ending June 29, 2021.

Klein, 50, of Parkland, is the managing attorney at Klein Law Group, PLLC. Klein fills a vacant seat for a term ending Dec. 13, 2020.

Technology Advisory Council

Finally, Scott announced the appointment of Danielle Alvarez to the Technology Advisory Council, a seven-member board within the Agency for State Technology to consider and make recommendations on technology policies, standards, services in architecture.

Alvarez, 39, of Crawfordville, is the cyber security strategist of Hayes e-Government Resources. She succeeds Kenneth Fountain and is appointed for a term ending June 30, 2020.
