FSU football game vs. Louisiana-Monroe cancelled

Florida State’s non-conference game against Louisiana-Monroe has been cancelled due to Hurricane Irma, reports the Tallahassee Democrat.

Late Thursday night, Florida Governor Rick Scott mandated that all public schools, colleges, and universities be closed from Friday to Monday.

That forced FSU to cancel the football game as well as all other athletic events and classes scheduled during that span.

The mandate said that FSU, and other public institutions could be used as shelters during the storm.

The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but was moved to 12 p.m. due to the storm earlier in the week due to concerns about evacuations.

There are no plans to make up the game at this time.

Florida, Miami, and USF have also cancelled their games this week. UCF moved its game up from Saturday to Friday evening.

The Seminoles first home game of the season will be against Miami on Oct. 16th at 8 p.m.
