Veteran journalist Jim Ash will join the Florida Bar Journal & News staff as its new senior editor, Editor Mark D. Killian announced Friday.
Ash’s first day is next Monday at the Bar’s Tallahassee headquarters. He replaces Senior Editor Jan Pudlow, who is retiring at the end of the year.
Ash, a member of Florida’s Capitol Press Corps since 1992, most recently worked for WFSU-88.9/Florida Public Radio, where he was a reporter and producer.
According to his WFSU bio, the Miami native “has worked variously as a reporter, columnist and bureau chief,” including for the Palm Beach Post and Tallahassee Democrat.
“His career has included coverage of everything from the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster and Hurricane Andrew to the Florida presidential recount,” the bio says.
Ash comes from a news family: His father, the late Clarke B. Ash, was associate editor of the long-defunct Miami News and opinions editor of The Palm Beach Post, and his mother, Agnes Ash, was publisher of the Palm Beach Daily News.
Ash got his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Iowa.
