Pasco County Commissioner Mike Moore added another endorsement for his re-election bid Wednesday, this time from Clerk of the Court Paula O’Neil.
“It has been a sincere pleasure to watch Chairman Mike Moore grow in his position as County Commissioner,” O’Neil said. “The complicated issues that appear before the commission on a daily basis create challenges for each member. Chairman Moore has proven to understand the depth of his decisions and he has shown compassion to community members appearing before the Board of County Commissioners. His commitment to Pasco County has been evident in his actions.”
Moore was elected to the commission in 2014 and is running for a second term next year. The endorsement from O’Neil follows one from county Sheriff Chris Nocco that Moore’s campaign touted last week.
“I am honored by Pasco County Clerk of Court Paula O’Neil’s support, endorsement and kind words,” Moore said. “Clerk O’Neil and her team do an extraordinary job meeting and serving the needs of Pasco County residents. I am grateful for her commitment to our community and greatly appreciate Clerk O’Neil’s endorsement this election.”
The Wesley Chapel Republican is the current chair of the commission and is running against Democrat Kelly Smith for re-election to the District 2 seat.
Outside of the commission Moore runs a small business and holds a seat on many state boards, including the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority and the Dependency Drug Treatment Court Planning Steering Committee.
Moore is also involved with community organizations including the Boys and Girls Club and Habitat for Humanity.
Since filing for re-election, Moore has raised nearly $156,000 for his campaign, while Smith has raised about $1,500.
