Democrat Margaret Good has raised $102,370 in her bid for the open Sarasota-based House District 72 seat.
Good, a Sarasota attorney, raised $87,370 in her campaign account, with an extra $15,000 going to her political committee, according to a news release from the Florida House Democrats.
“I’m humbled by the outpouring of support this community is continuing to show our campaign,” she said.
Good is running against businesswoman Ruta Jouniari in the Democratic primary, set for Dec. 5. The seat opened in August after Republican Alex Miller announced she will be stepping down from the Legislature less than a year since taking office, citing family and business reasons.
Jouniari has not yet announced her first financial numbers.
James Buchanan, son of U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, is the lone Republican in the race so far. He had run for the HD 71 seat for months, raising more than $160,000 before switching over to HD 72, a district that covers most of northern Sarasota County.
Rounding out the field is Libertarian candidate Alison Foxall.
The general election is scheduled for February 13.
