As modern communication evolves – cable, TV and internet – there now exists a global audience of billions, each with a nearly insatiable desire for quality content.
On the second day of FITConFL – the annual Future of Internet and Television Conference in Miami – both national and Florida-based content creators will take part in a panel discussion on how cable, television and Internet providers apply the latest technology to better relate to users worldwide.
Leading the discussion of “The Future of Content: Adapting to Demand and Technology” is Derek Cooper, Comcast Communications’ vice president of government affairs and community investment.
The key topic of the panel, as described by FIT: “From sports to retail, to movies and culture, learn from who will share how their organizations are adapting programming to today’s audience and how they use cable and internet-enabled technology to connect with today’s viewing and shopping audiences.”
With nearly two decades of experience in the cable industry, Cooper specializes in collaborating with government officials and community leaders for the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County region.
Cooper launched his career as a legislative aide for former Florida Senate President Jim Scott. Before joining Comcast, he served as senior counsel and director of government relations for Office Depot based in Boca Raton and as an associate with the influential Greenberg Traurig law firm.
Among Cooper’s community activism includes serving on the Orange Bowl Committee, Florida Cable Telecommunications Association – recently rebranded as Florida Internet & Television (FIT) – the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, and SunFest, among others.
Cooper lives in West Palm Beach with his wife, Lona and their daughter Sage.
As part of FITConFL, top industry leaders will also give the latest on state and federal legislative and regulatory policy impacting the cable and television industries. Attendees will also learn from experts on how to meet changing workforce needs, explore the growing effect of the Internet of Things (IoT) on everyday life and more.
FITConFL continues through Friday at Trump National Doral Miami, 4400 Northwest 87th Ave. in Doral. Full agenda and more information are available here. FIT’s new website is internetandtvfl and Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts can be found through @FLInternetTV.
