State Attorneys: Frank White ‘unfit to serve’

A group of Republican state attorneys have deemed Florida Attorney General candidate Frank White “unfit to serve” after a series of attacks against his opponent, former Judge Ashley Moody.

White has been hitting Moody hard throughout the campaign, with his United Conservatives political committee contending that Moody is “soft on crime … soft on child predators” recently.

That was a bridge too far for prosecutors, who already backed Moody.

Their position: “after the recent scurrilous and foolish attacks against Ashley Moody’s distinguished career as a prosecutor and judge by Frank White, it has become increasingly clear that not only is Ashley Moody the only one qualified to be our next Attorney General, but that Frank White is uniquely unfit to serve.”

“Florida needs an Attorney General that is serious and professional, not a politician seeking to score cheap political points about a subject he knows nothing about,” the letter adds.

The following state attorneys signed the letter: Brad KingBernie McCabe, RJ Larizza, William Cervone, Brian Haas, Glenn Hess, Dennis Ward, Phil Archer, Bruce Colton.

“Frank White has never prosecuted a case in a courtroom, never tried any case to verdict, and has absolutely no understanding of what it means to lead a successful investigation or prosecution.  His most recent attack against Ashley Moody only underscores his lack of understanding or qualifications to be the top prosecutor in Florida,” the missive concludes.

Expect more pyrotechnics as this campaign continues to heat up.
