Former lawmaker and now Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano has endorsed the Protect Dogs-Yes on 13 campaign.
The campaign announced Fasano’s support in yet another list of endorsements released late Thursday. That includes Hallandale Beach Vice Mayor Michele Lazarow.
“This is an issue that has local grassroots support throughout the state,” Lazarow said in a statement. “Floridians care about dogs. Dogs are members of our families, and greyhounds are treated in a way we would never treat our own companions.”
The campaign is promoting passage of Amendment 13, put on the November ballot by the Constitution Revision Commission (CRC).
The proposal, which needs at least 60 percent approval to be added to the state constitution, aims at ending commercial dog racing in the state. In Florida, live dog racing is still conducted at 11 tracks.
The latest endorsements also include:
— Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan, Plantation Mayor Diane Veltri Bendekovic, Hallandale Beach Mayor Keith London, Hallandale Beach City Commissioner Richard Dally, and Cutler Bay Councilman Roger Coriat.
— Pinellas County Young Democrats and Speak Out Brevard.
— Jacksonville Humane Society, Suncoast Animal League, Animal Allies, Inc., Dudley Doing Right, For Our Friends the Animals, Paws for a Cause-University of Tampa, Fido Friendly, Villages’ Greyhound Dog Club, Sunshine State’s Bichon Frise Club, Daytona Beach German Shepherd Rescue, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Lil Rascals Dog Rescue, NWFL Great Dane Rescue, Pet Rescue by Judy, Sophie’s Circle.

Do these people realise that these greyhounds are cared for better than a lot of people treat their pets. I seen puppy mills and I’ve seen greyhound farms. No comparison. Why don’t you people put your efforts into regulating puppy mills. How many greyhounds are put down in adoption programs/rescues. None. How many pit bulls and chihuahuas are put down a month in the humane society and city pounds. 10,000 + please stop wasting money on putting the wrong industry out of business when all that time, effort and money could save 1000’s of dogs that really need to be saved.

Your ingnorance is showing Tabbatha. Your reasoning is the one of maybe three that has been tossed around thinking it will be enough to win your argument. Why don’t all of your greyhounders spearhead a movement to do away with puppy mills and kill shelters. You all seem to care so much but only want to support racing but want to push off the mills and kills to soemone else.

Thats the best come back you have?? LMAO.. You find two very minor typo’s which happens everyday to everyone except you of course and you try to make an issue of it instead of discussing my question I posed to you. Your very simple minded in your selective argument. I’ll give you another shot at it.. Go back and read my original question and give me an intelligent answer..

The growing list of people and organizations that endorse Protect Dogs Yes on 13 shows the depth and breadth of support for this grassroots effort. The voters of Florida will also endorse ending this archaic industry with their vote on November 6. It is time to stop the confinement, injuries and deaths that come with greyhound racing! #YESON13

Dogs in your ” humane ” societies arent confined, injured or die, huh? Oh, that’s right, they die when they gas them on a daily basis, hypocrite. Greyhounds at the track are the happiest, and most cared for dogs in the country.
Margarita Dibenedetto
July 27, 2018 at 7:21 pm
Yeah hypocrite! But who is the real profiteer in this racing of dogs? These dogs don’t get to enjoy having families to dot on them, instead they’re to be trained for racing only.
Francesca

Sure they do, after they retire they are adopted to loving homes. If your side is so full of integrity, why are you stealing pictures and videos? Why are you attempting to get service dogs thrown out of events, why are you aligned with ALF? And on and on and on

461 dogs have died at tracks since 2013, the year Florida began collecting this information. Dog racing is also not profitable? Why do they do it? A law that says if you are to have more profitable betting like poker etc, you have to have a live event and dogs are cheaper than horses. Follow the money. These setups are not by dog lovers but gambling businesses and the dogs are simply a financial necessity; one that you want to keep to a minimal cost which means little vet care, over working and so on.

How many dogs have died at your ” humane ” shelters since 2013. 10000, 20000, 30000???? , more? You have no idea what you are talking about, little vet care? Every track has a full time vet at all times, also if you bother to watch Paint the Trail videos, you will see tails wagging, jumping around. This is what HAPPY dogs do, go to a track and see for yourself.

The broad support that Amendment 13 enjoys is due to the fact that Floridians love dogs. They will no longer tolerate the cruel and inhumane treatment that greyhounds endure at Florida’s tracks. YES on 13 will rule the day on November 6!

Nice to see so many Floridians that want to see the end of greyhound exploitation. Be on the right side of history – vote YES on 13!

On a grassroots level, this issue is resonating with voters on a similar level as Amendment 1 – Florida Forever which passed by 75% in 2014. The announced endorsements for the Yes on Amendment 13 campaign to end the archaic and cruel greyhound dog racing business are just the tip of the iceberg of the depth of support for this initiative.

Sure, that is why you liars say 70% yet the Chamber poll had it 46-37, all you people do is lie, tied in with ALF, HSUS who has been scamming people for decades, grey2k and their record of fraud. It isn’t going to pass, yes, you are getting endorsements from healthy animal killers ” humane societies”, and politicians who want casino lobby money, but the truth will win out, if it isn’t thrown out in court. Tell that Sonia liar, you know, the one who looks the other way at polo horses injuries and abuse, that she needs to stay away from golden corral

So when you speak with people about Amendment 13 and the response you get is: “We still have dog racing in Florida?” you have an encapsulated picture of an industry that’s in the final stages of dying. Washboards, 8-tracks, dog racing…all in the past. We’ve advanced past animal abuse as entertainment. We need to end this and stop the injuries and the deaths and the sooner the better. VOTE YES on 13 for the DOGS.

In November Floridians will have a chance to correct a wrong that has festered far too long. In November Floridians will have the opportunity to show that we care about animals and are appalled by animal abuse. In November Floridians will have the chance to close the book on nearly 90 years’ of animal cruelty. We will have a chance to stand up as compassionate human beings who care about other creatures, who understand our obligation as human beings to be responsible for the welfare of all lives entrusted to us, who are now ready to show the world that Florida gets it, that Florida is poised to be a leader in the promotion of animal welfare. Simply put, we can accomplish all this by voting to abolish greyhound racing in Florida, by voting “yes” on Amendment 13 in November.

So what do u plan on doing with the thousands of animals that are euthanized every year in that state? Those are the truly discarded animals and the ones that are abused. Why don’t u fix that and quit trying to fix an industry that is not broken, thanks to the rules and regulations enacted years ago. What do u plan on doing with horse racing and other horse related fields where they are simply shot in the head and sent to the glue factory when they are injured.

Tabbatha, let them crow about their endorsements from kill shelters and crooked politicians wanting casino lobby money, the real poll is close to 50-50, they know they are in trouble, that’s why they steal pictures, say nothing about death threats, or talk about missing dogs that aren’t missing. Hillary spent far more money than Trump, lied with te dossier and stilll lost. Remember, the truth is on our side. Once the public is made aware of grey2k deceit and affiliation with ALF, the blackmail scheme etc, and they ARE going to be, wait for the documentary coming out by a highly respected company, they will go into panic mode.

People like you should get a real education, in school, on the real treatment of greyhounds, and the fraud perpetrated by your heroes in scam, grey2k and the like. You are aware they attempted blackmail in WVA, or that they are aligned with ALF, or that they defame hard working people in order to enrich themselves? Yet those that knowingly engage in hypocrisy rarely hold their like minded brethren to any standard of integrity. No doubt you are a Hillary loving weirdo vegan.

Sorry but I get my info directly from state investigators. I work within the gaming industry for over 28 years. You my dear are clueless. By the way I am Trump fan and worked for him for 8 years and currently live in his neighborhood. So are going to answer my original question or are you going to duck it again for the third time by using immature statements? On second thought put a sock in it sister and call it a day your very boring. Yawn…..
Francesca
July 29, 2018 at 6:48 am
Sure you live in his neighborhood, yet again you prove your ignorance by demonstrating you simply do not know the difference between your and you’re. Most likely sweeping a card room is/was your only involvement in gaming. For if you have ever been to a track you know how well the dogs are treated, more likely the real reason you wish to ban racing is so the tracks can convert to casinos, never mind the Seminoles are never going to allow that. I think I remember you from a former article. The GREAT majority of people living in Trump’s neighborhood are no doubt intelligent enough to know the difference be your and you”re, maybe the trailer park you live in is close to Mar’a;Lago. We notice you didn’t mention ALF, or the documented fraud, out industry is too busy trying to save the greyhounds being able to continue doing what they love, and your side does nothing for puppy mills, most likely because it isn’t a good subject to scam people. You also say nothing about shelters who kill healthy animals daily, just like fat Sonia who says about horses injured/put down in polo. The lot of you are hypocrites and fraudsters.

Greyhound racing should end that’s a good thing, but funny how faux appointed mayor Keith London and faux appointed vice mayor Michele Lazarow have jumped on this band wagon its likey because of all the money that’s been diverted to them by Evan Ross controlled PACs filed with money from Gulfstream Casino and the Hollywood Dog Track, seems that money buys support with them, it also bought them their Commission Seat.

Francesca. You cannot just reduce every argument to ALF, PETA, HSUS, drinking Kool-aid and your hatred of Grey2K.
Who do you actually work for and where is your direct pipeline to the profit off of this dying and cruel industry? It is apparent that all you want to do is throw slurs and nastiness, but where is your transparency about who you are?
I don’t really think you are in any position to talk about someone’s ability to spell.
“Seems to me you’re the ignorant one here sport, notice the g comes before the n in ignorant, also the m comes before the e in someone, go drink some more kool-aid, at least no one on our side is affiliated with animal liberation front.”
With ignorance and poor education as obvious as this, I would imagine working in an industry like dog racing is perfect for you.

July 29, 2018 at 11:21 am
Yet another AR nut case, what is cruel is not allowing the dogs to run. As for dying, take a look at the riding handle. I notice you say nothing about shelters killing healthy animals daily, or hsus giving less than 1 percent of donations to said shelters, as for education, I’m a college graduate, dearie, the dogs are not abused in any way, on the contrary. Are you a vegan weirdo? I happen to love a good steak, if you people had your way cattle ranching would be illegal

As an activist and even before she was in office, Vice Mayor Michele Lazarow has been one of the loudest voices for decoupling and advocate against dog racing. Since being elected to office, she has passed ordinances statewide protecting animals. I am unsure where you are getting your information, but it sounds inaccurate at best. Everyone in the activist community knows she is 100% for the animals. To accuse her of taking money from race tracks for some personal or political gain is total and utter BS.
Francesca

As an activist says it all, no doubt she is as crooked as Tom Lee
Hannah
July 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm
Yeah, that logic makes perfect sense. Activist=Crooked. You can’t just call everyone crooked because it is the new buzz word in politics and you don’t like what principles they stand for. That is just simple, old-fashioned name calling and that is what children resort to when they have no real argument to debate.
Francesca
July 29, 2018 at 1:35 pm
Principles, such as engaging in attempted blackmail, or lying about a missing dog who was never missing, or stealing pictures, oh yes, what principles you liars have. All will be revealed in the documentary, to be seen state wide dearie.
Francesca
July 29, 2018 at 11:27 am
What is BS is all the lies about the Greyhound industry. Why do tracks want decoupling? To EXPAND GAMING. Saying your hero there isn’t on the take is like saying dorchak isn’t a liar

You must have gone to an unaccredited school or didn’t pay attention, because your prose is horrendous (and you might want to look up the word prose). Again, you have not yet stated where or how you profit from this industry. Someone with opinions as hostile as yours must have a financial stake somewhere or you just need a hobby. You are on these Greyhound threads just a little too much. Question: When (not if) Amendment 13 passes, at which threads will you be spewing hatred then? What will you do with your afternoons?
Francesca
July 29, 2018 at 1:32 pm
But, it isn’t going to pass, you and your like minded lying scammers are on the Fringe of society. Every group taken into Sanford kennel visits ate so surprised when they see the TRUTH, even have had some enraged at being taken in by Grey2k lies. What I do in the industry is no concern of yours dearie, you enjoy mentioning me not answering your questions yet you and your ilk never mention the sexual predator Pacelle, the documented Grey2k fraud, dorchak being on the ALF website, your side stealing pictures, lying about WW Flicka, fat Sonia saying not one word about injuries to polo horses. Each and every one of you are lying hypocrites, what are you going to do with your afternoon once it doesn’t pass, or more likely gets thrown out in court. Whatever happens I will continue to do as I do now, spend lots of time on the beach, you probably don’t spend much time there, because most likely you’re a fat hippo like Sonia.
