Citizens Property Insurance announced the opening of several catastrophe response centers in Panama City.

A new mobile claim center will open at noon today in the parking lot for a Sam’s Club on West 23rd Street.

That’s in addition to an already-open center in the parking lot for the Walmart Supercenter in Fallschase Village Center in Tallahassee.

Both centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, as permitting by curfew orders in local jurisdictions.

The centers opened in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, which made landfall on Wednesday.

Citizens set up the centers to provide in-person service to policyholders who may be cut off from their usual means of communication. Mobile phone service was badly affected by the storm.

Officials say staff at the mobile centers will answer questions and help policyholders report catastrophic claims. If appropriate, the centers can issue advanced payments for additional living expenses immediately.

Those needing service should bring a photo ID and the address for affected properties. If possible, they should bring any policy information, current contact information, descriptions, and photos of the loss and information on the date of loss.

Policyholders with internet access can file claims online using the myPolicy service.

Claims can also be handled 24 hours a day, seven days a week by phone at 866-411-2742.

Meteorologists now say that Hurricane Michael, when it made landfall, was stronger than Hurricane Andrew or Hurricane Katrina.

Good Afternoon: Our Company has significant experience with hurricane clean-up including complete tree and debris removal and maritime recovery and salvage. How can we register with the Insurance Village in Panama City to provide these services? Your prompt response to this request will be appreciated.
