Powerball jackpot

Billed as the “fourth largest in U.S. lottery history,” the jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball drawing has reached an estimated $750 million, the Florida Lottery announced Thursday.

The jackpot “has rolled 21 times since Aug. 15, generating more than $42.1 million in contributions to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF),” the Lottery said in a press release.

Indeed, since joining the game in 2009, it’s “generated $1.8 billion in contributions to education statewide.

And “Florida is among the top-selling states in the country, with more than 85.6 million winning tickets totaling more than $2.3 billion in prizes, including 12 jackpot winners.

“Florida was also one of the three states nationally to have a winner share in the world record-setting $1.586 billion jackpot in January 2016.”

Jackpots start at $40 million and roll until the jackpot is won, the Lottery explained. Players win by matching the five white ball numbers (1-69) and the red Powerball (1-26).
