This weekend, Rick Scott is making his first overseas trip since joining the U.S. Senate.
Scott will attend the Munich Security Conference, part of a delegation of seven Senators and ten U.S. Representatives.
Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who campaigned alongside Scott in 2018, leads the group of lawmakers.
Per a release from Graham’s office, the “MSC is widely considered the world’s leading forum for international security policy.”
“The conference is a ‘marketplace of ideas’ where initiatives and solutions are developed and opinions are exchanged,” the release adds. “It also provides a venue for diplomatic initiatives and ideas to cooperatively address the world’s most pressing security concerns.”
United States Vice President Mike Pence and Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan will be on hand.
Honoring departed Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the trip will be called “CODEL McCain.”
Scott is the only Florida legislator on the trip.
Joining Scott from the Senate, Graham, Robert Menendez, Sheldon Whitehouse, John Barrasso, Jeanne Shaheen, and Christopher Coons.
Representing the House: Mac Thornberry, Jim Langevin, Joe Wilson, Michael Turner, Jim Banks, Michael Gallagher, Thomas Malinowski, Dan Crenshaw, Elise Stefanik and Elissa Slotkin.
With American foreign policy in a period of recalibration, proceedings from Munich will be watched closely.
