U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell says she plans to kick off a health care tour of South Florida Thursday with a roundtable discussion at her Miami office.
Thursday’s event will focus on protections for preexisting conditions as well as lowering health care costs. Mucarsel-Powell says she plans on meeting with community leaders and health care advocates who will discuss “navigating the broken health care system.”
Mucarsel-Powell’s Miami office is located at 12857-31 SW 42nd St. Thursday’s meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m.
While Mucarsel-Powell has spoken out in defense of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), she says actions by the Donald Trump administration are hampering the system.
Mucarsel-Powell has opposed the Trump administration’s efforts to support invalidation of the entire ACA through the courts.
She joined many Democrats throughout the country in making health care a primary issue of her 2018 campaign. That effort saw Mucarsel-Powell oust GOP U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo in the race for Florida’s 26th Congressional District.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is once again highlighting Mucarsel-Powell’s health care record. The group released a digital ad for Mucarsel-Powell in early April. The DCCC has said health care will once again be a top issue in 2020.
