State Senate candidate Shevrin Jones has announced he’ll be joining a delegation from the U.S. House as they plan to tour the migrant detention facility in Homestead.

That trip will take place at 11 a.m. Monday morning.

Among the delegation visiting the center are three U.S. House members from Florida: U.S. Reps. Charlie Crist of Florida’s 13th Congressional District, Lois Frankel of CD 21 and Debbie Wasserman Schultz of CD 23.

Jones, who currently serves as a member of the Florida House, expressed interest in joining the trip over the weekend. Early Monday, his campaign confirmed he would attend the meeting.

Jones is term-limited in the House in 2020. He’s seeking the Senate District 35 seat currently held by Sen. Oscar Braynon II. Braynon is also term-limited.

Wasserman Schultz has been denied access to the shelter before. She is also among a trio of South Florida congresswomen who have called on the for-profit detention center to close.

The Homestead center is designed to hold unaccompanied minors. Comprehensive Health Services operates it through an agreement with the Department of Health and Human Services.

Several other members of Congress from around the country will also attend the Monday morning visit.

That list reportedly includes U.S. Reps. Pete Aguilar of California, Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, Barbara Lee of California, Nita Lowey of New York, Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Lucille Roybal-Allard of California, Tim Ryan of Ohio, Norma Torres of California and Bonnie Watson-Coleman of New Jersey.

Ryan is also one of the many Democrats running for the 2020 presidential nomination.
