State Rep. Emily Slosberg is no longer facing prosecution on a pair of misdemeanor charges related to an alleged dispute with individuals who had purchased her Boca Raton home.
“In a charging document dated March 7, Slosberg is accused of damaging door locks valued at less than $200,” the Sun-Sentinel reported in March.
Slosberg was accused of swapping out those locks and demanding the new owners leave. However, a motive for those actions was never detailed.
The case was originally overseen by Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg. But Gov. Ron DeSantis transferred the case to Broward County State Attorney Michael Satz per a request from Aronberg to avoid “appearance of impropriety.”
Aronberg cited a “close working relationship” with Slosberg.
The Boca Raton lawmaker had been facing charges of trespassing and criminal mischief. According to the Sun-Sentinel, Slosberg is set to pay the victims $500 and complete 25 hours of community service.
Slosberg was elected in House District 91 back in 2016. The seat had previously been held by her father, Irv Slosberg.
During the 2019 Legislative Session, Slosberg was behind a bill that made texting while driving a primary offense. That measure has since been signed by DeSantis.
