State Sen. Wilton Simpson, take heed: The fees for egg grading will be going up.

The state Department of Agriculture’s Division of Food Safety posted a notice Thursday that it’s developing new rules that “will increase the fees for grading services.”

That includes “regular hours, overtime hours, holiday hours, regular shift differential, and overtime shift differential, as well as adding an additional charge of $9 per hour to overtime hours worked at a resident location on a shift beginning after 3 p.m.”

Simpson, a Trilby Republican, is next in line to become Senate President after Bradenton Republican Bill Galvano, assuming the GOP remains in control of the chamber by then. Galvano departs after the 2020 election.

Simpson earlier this year filed a net worth disclosure of nearly $26 million, which included his egg business, Simpson Farms.

At the close of 2018, Simpson’s egg farm was worth $14.4 million. In 2012, it was worth $8.4 million, records show. He also owns an asbestos removal company, Environmental Services.
