Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried will be in Tampa next month for a fundraiser benefitting her political committee, Florida Consumers First.
The Nov. 15 event will be held at the home of Democratic state Sen. Janet Cruz and her husband, Stephen Rifkin, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Supporters who RSVP can get more details, including an address.
The fundraising invite lists off five contribution tiers: Chairs are expected to chip in $5,000-plus; the host title requires a $2,500 check; co-hosts must give $1,000; friends are at the $500 level; and guests can get in the door for $250.
Fried, a Democrat, was elected to the Cabinet position last year in one of the closest statewide races in Florida history — only a tenth of a percent separated her from Republican nominee Matt Caldwell.
As the only statewide elected Democrat, Fried has asserted herself as the de facto leader of Florida Democrats. She’s also become a valuable resource for national Democrats running to oust President Donald Trump in 2020.
As such, her fundraising efforts haven’t slowed down much over the past year, considering she won’t be up for re-election until 2022 — heading into October, she had about $250,000 in her political committee.
