Brian Mast stumps for Donald Trump in West Palm Beach

Do you want a party of socialism or capitalism?

Four more years? That was the message from U.S. Rep. Brian Mast as he stumped on behalf of President Donald Trump at a Trump Victory event this past weekend.

Mast, who represents Florida’s 18th Congressional District, was on hand in West Palm Beach to woo potential voters into supporting Trump’s reelection bid.

The gathering was part of the Trump Victory Leadership Initiative (TLVI). John Pence, a Senior Advisor on Trump’s reelection team, says the program is aimed at beefing up the GOP ground game.

“The TVLI program is training and mobilizing community leaders and new voters to amplify their voices and energy to fuel another victory for President Trump and Republicans in 2020,” Pence, who is not related to the Vice President, said.

Mast spoke to attendees about his passion for the country and, specifically, Trump’s leadership.

“I get to decide today that today is a better day,” Mast said. “I get to wake up this week and decide that it’s a better week than last week; this month and decide it’s a better month than last month; this year and decide it’s a better year than last year. That, to me, is what waking up under 50 stars and 13 red-and-white stripes is all about.”

Mast, who took over the CD 18 seat during Trump’s first run in 2016, argued a second Trump term would help maintain that optimism.

“This election is about ideology, do you want a party of socialism or capitalism, do you want a party of independence or dependence” Mast asked.

“President Trump is keeping the American Dream alive and whoever the Democrat nominee may be, they will take that dream away from us.”

There are no Democratic candidates arguing for a socialist, authoritarian form of government.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont has openly declared himself a democratic socialist. That means Sanders is arguing for an expanded federal government, akin to governments in western Europe.

Florida will hold its presidential primary on March 17.

There aren’t any candidates from either of the “major” parties who AREN’T arguing for an authoritarian government. I’m not sure why I’m supposed to like the GOP’s “Make America East Germany Again” craziness any more or less than the Democratic version.

PLEASE change the headline. The world “campaigns” would be more appropriate and much less insensitive.
