Former prosecutor Lisset Hanewicz has released her first campaign ad in the race for the District 4 seat on St. Petersburg City Council.

The 30-second ad, called “St. Pete Values,” highlights Hanewicz’s experience as a prosecutor and neighborhood president, and shares her priorities for the city.

“As a former state and federal prosecutor, I fought to keep our community safe. As president of the Crescent Lake Neighborhood Association, I brought our neighbors together to protect our green spaces and fix our streets and sidewalks,” Hanewicz says in the ad.

The ad features Hanewicz speaking with constituents in District 4 and going to Crescent Lake Park with her daughter, while narrating her platforms — affordable housing, transportation, support for small businesses, public safety and infrastructure.

“I think I offer a unique perspective for voters, someone who’s done the work building up our communities and taking a personal role defending victims and keeping our neighborhoods safe,” Hanewicz says in the ad. “When I’m out meeting voters around District 4, they want to know your track record. I want to be sure every voter knows what I’ve done for St. Pete and how I’ll use that experience to guide my policy decisions on City Council.”

Hanewicz faces four opponents for the District 4 seat — Jarib Figueredo, Clifford Hobbs, Tom Mullins and Douglas O’Dowd. Mullins also recently released an ad, “Playing Defense.”

Two candidates, Lauren Hubbard and Wendy Wesley, have withdrawn from the District 4 race.

The group is running to succeed current City Council member Darden Rice. Rice is leaving office because of term limits and is running for Mayor in a race where she’s considered a frontrunner. She has yet to endorse in the race.

The district encompasses areas around Crescent Lake and Historic Old Northeast up to the Meadowlawn and Fossil Park neighborhoods.
