Gov. Rick Scott announced today the appointments of Rahul Patel and Robert Stern to the University Of Florida board of trustees. Each is appointed for a term ending Jan. 6, 2020.
Patel, 42, of Atlanta, is partner with the law firm King and Spalding, where he is on the policy committee, which serves as the firm’s governing and management committee. Much of Patel’s practice focuses on cross-border transactions, particularly those concerning Indian companies.
Patel previously was president of the University of Florida National Alumni Association as well as a member of the University of Florida Hall of Fame. Patel received both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida.
Patel succeeds Juliet Roulhac.
Stern, 51, of Tampa, is a lawyer and partner with Tampa Bay-based law firm Trenam Kemker, where he specializes in all aspects of real estate, distressed property, and financing commercial work. His practice concentrates on commercial real estate, with an emphasis on transactional and financing matters
Stern previously served as president of the University of Florida National Alumni Association and as a member of the Post-Secondary Education Planning Commission. He also received both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida.
Stern succeeds C. David Brown.
The appointments of Pastel and Stern are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
