Ron DeSantis laughs off media ‘narratives’ that his 2024 campaign is crumbling

DeSantis Fox News
Fox News reporters continue to ask the Governor why his 2024 campaign is struggling. It's not his fault, though.

Rumors of the death of Ron DeSantis’ 2024 campaign have been exaggerated, and are in fact “media” fabrications.

That’s the case the Florida Governor made during a Fox News interview airing Sunday morning. He told “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo his problem wasn’t being down more than 30 points in polls, but from “narratives” promulgated by a hostile press.

“Maria, these are narratives. The media does not want me to be the nominee. I think that’s very, very clear. Why? Because they know I’ll beat Joe Biden,” DeSantis said, chuckling to start off his answer to show that he was unperturbed.

DeSantis contended that the media objects to him taking on the “drug cartels,” “stopping the invasion at the border” and curbing the “administrative state.”

“We’ll do all the things that they don’t want to see done. And so they’re going to continue doing this type of narrative,” he said.

The Governor said he has “incredible support in the early states,” noting First Lady Casey DeSantis’ relaunching of the “Mamas for DeSantis” movement in Iowa last week before citing his fundraising, which includes $20 million raised since his campaign launch in addition to more than $80 million transferred from his state-level PAC.

“And, oh, by the way, we just announced last week better fundraising than any non-incumbent has ever had. If you look at what was reported, it was about $150 million, and that hasn’t even been deployed yet. So we’ve got a long way to go,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to being able to participate in the debates, but this is not something that, you know, I ever expected to just snap fingers and all of a sudden, you know, you win seven months before anyone happens. You’ve got to earn it, and you got to work. And it requires a lot of toil and tears and sweat, and we’re going to do that.”

This is the second Fox News interview in recent days where the Governor was confronted with his struggling poll numbers.

During a Thursday night interview o”Fox News Tonight,” host Will Cain confronted the 2024 presidential candidate with polling that has seen DeSantis “between 10 and 20%,” “numbers that have stayed there for two months.”

There, he also blamed the media for his struggles.

“Well, I think if you look at the people like the corporate media, who are they going after, who do they not want to be the nominee? They’re going after me. Who’s the President of Mexico (Andrés López Obrador) attacking because he knows we’ll be strong on the border and hold him accountable in the cartels? He’s going after me,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis said he will participate in upcoming Primary debates. It looks like he will need them.

The Race to the White House polling average shows Donald Trump up, 53% to 21%, over DeSantis.

DeSantis appears to be full-blown delusional re his voter support level. As far as his DONOR support goes, that hasat best leveled off if not pretty much halted altogether, and even if it continued to $100 MILLION total it would not affect his weak voter level.

The guy is just not likable, not even a little bit and he’s spent his time insulting and alienating the voters who he’d need to win anyhow. He can laugh all he wants I guess and the rubes can keep throwing money at him but I can see how he’ll suddenly become less of a dick.

DeSantis owns his own instituted policies of hate here in Florida! He has been on the campaign trail for over two years bragging about his abortion restrictions, book burnings, curtailing first amendment freedoms of teachers and damaging businesses he doesn’t like.

DeSantis owns his mess and the media is simply reporting his policies of hate.

He is sitting exactly where he needs to be….as the most viable alternative to Trump. The media narrative that his campaign has stalled is ridiculous. He is polling in the 20-30% range…well ahead of many better known candidates. Everything comes down to whether Trump implodes….which is always a possibility.

I hope there’s no video of Ron laughing off their campaign narrative. Their attempts at smiling is creepy enough. Definitely do not want to see Rhonda trying to laugh for the camera. Yikes.

Congrats on the Sunday news score, Ron. “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo. Wow. Did you see me on Sunday news shows people have heard of and also watch? I was not complaining about the story of my flailing campaign being a hoax. But you were. And you were doing that on something called “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo. Which ought to tell you something, Ron. So Ron, next time you’re in Florida, get in the car, drive to Georgia, find a dictionary, and look up “Irony.” You’ll find yourself on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo talking about how it’s a hoax that your campaign is flailing.

Kindly remember that the groupthink mouthpieces of the American liberal media control the narrative of this race and will for a quite a while yet. And the odd thing is they appear to have given up on blasting Trump and have turned to DeSantis because there isn’t anyone else. Whole essays can be written about why that is, but one thing is good to remember: it was all bull shoots in 2016, it was the very same thing in 2020 and it appears headed for bull shootdum in 2024 as the left, ever sure of the final historic necessity of Marxism, fails to see that Marx and Lenin are rapidly falling to the level of historic jokes. Yes, the intellectual elites who write blogs like this may rise every morning singing hymns to the ghost of Stalin. I have been told that if you walk through certain parts of the old Northeast St. Pete you can hear the ragged strains of “The Internationale” carried on the wind. But America doesn’t want it, and America is going to get a clean election this year.

Everybody is laughing off DeSantis. He’s toast. He’s gone full throttle on culture wars, and that latest video is unhinged and just bizarre. He’s spiraled out of control – showing himself as a repulsive, divisive, petty little man unfit for any office.

Everyone needs to understand that the Media really LOVES Donald Trump. They may despise him politically, but they love to put Donald Trump on covers and in headlines. Those covers and headlines are not always positive, but they are never the less it is coverage. It’s disingenuous to talk about Desantis falling behind when nothing politically is happening now. There is no debate where everyone will be forced to look at Trump and Desantis on the same stage. Trump is also a sympathy vote for Republicans currently because Trump is being ravaged by the Democrats. So there is generic Republican justification to support Mr. Trump for the unfair attacks being levied against him. That may change quickly if any of the criminal allegations have any legs and it can also change as voters decide who can actually win the election or govern once in power.

“unfair attacks” against Trump? After his stealing documents, jeopardizing our soldiers’ lives, destroying our parks…who is paying you to spout nonsense?

My guess is that an intern at the Rhonda campaign has evidently learned to put their comments into Bing Search or ChatGPT as a question and get an AI-written answer which is then copy-posted here as a comment. That’s why each individual sentence sounds good, but there’s little overall cohesion holding the sentences together. AI can make good points, but it can’t make them good. (Well, well.)
